About the Site
This website is built with the static site generator Eleventy using Phoenix Code and hosted on Neocities.
It has been sitting around since 2017, but I've only started updating in late 2025. As a kid, I coded petpages on Neopets! However...I've grown so frustrated with modern social media and the Twitterfication of like, everything... I'm serious when I say I am sick of Twitter clones and even modern art gallery sites that just try to replicate the Twitter feed formula with endless scrolling. So...I decided to make my own personal website to share my art in a format that I prefer. Then I realized I could customize the site and put whatever I wanted on it, so that's what I'm doing now! This site will always be a WORK IN PROGRESS as I learn coding, but I hope you will enjoy it!
Anyways, you can find my art, travel photos, thoughts, mineral collection, and whatever else I'm interested in on this site. Hope you'll enjoy it!
FAQ
Website
Q: What inspired your site's design?
A: Geologic field notes. I want it to look like someone found these scribbles in the field somewhere, showing notes, sketches, and photos haphazardly stuck into the notebook.
Q: Where do you get your pictures from?
A: Outside.
Q: No seriously, where?!!
A: Most of my photos are from the southwestern United States, either from vacation or from work. You can find a log of my travels here. Also I use Dithermark to edit my images.
Q: What camera do you use to take your photos?
A: I use a Nikon D3300 DSLR camera with the default lens, an Olympus Tough TG-6 (digicam), OR my phone camera (Samsung Galaxy Note 9).
Q: May I use your site assets?
A: Depends on which one you are asking for and for what usage. Please reach out and ask!
Q: Where can I contact you if something on your site is broken or incorrect?
A: You can drop a message in my guestbook or message me at Geoledgy[at]proton.me. I am aware that there are some errors on the mobile site display.
Art
Q: What are your art tools?
A: I use a Wacom Bamboo Capture tablet and pen, or an iPad Pro with an Apple pen to draw digitally. For art programs, I use Clip Studio Paint and Procreate.
Q: What brushes/etc. do you use?
A: This is a lot so I'll add this later lol. For now, just ask directly! Please also refer to the image I drew so I can correctly identify the brushes used.
Q: What are your sources of inspiration?
A: This is also a lot so this will be added later too. I'll do a quick list for now: blink-182, pop punk music, Clone High, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Hanna-Barbera cartoons, Samurai Jack, various mid-century artists, western landscapes artists, abstract artists...................honestly I might make a blog post for this in the future lol.
Q: How do you pick your vibrant colors?
A: I reference mid-century art or just bump up the saturation to as close to 100 as I can. One thing I like to do is substitute black and white with purple and light yellow, respectively. Or I just drop a color gradient and adjust to my liking. It's difficult to explain but I really just try to choose the most saturated colors possible.
Geology
Q: I heard you work for Cartoon Network. Is that true?
A: I work as their on-site geologist that does routine checks to make sure their building isn't sinking after I was demoted for forming a volcano in the boarding room.
Q: Are you actually a geologist?
A: No, of course not! This degree is totally fake!
Q: What is your favorite rock?
A: diorite, peridotite, kimberlite. If it exploded out of a volcano or cooled from a pluton, I like it.
Q: And your favorite mineral?
A: fluorite, cumengeite, torbernite, copper-ore minerals, radioactive minerals
Q: What about volcano?
A: In general, I really like cinder cones and monogenetic volcanic fields. My favorite volcanoes are: Sunset Crater (and the San Francisco volcanic field) in Arizona, Tahoma/Mount Rainier in Washington, and the Trans-Pecos volcanic field in Texas.
Q: Being a volcanologist sounds so cool! How did you become one?
A: A volcano blew up my wife.
Q: But what's the real story?
A: A bunch of volcanologists thought I was cute wandering around a hotel with a volcano shirt and showed me around like I was their newly adopted kitten. Also I got a degree in geology and do volcano research.
Personal
Q: Are you _
A: You can make any headcanons about me that you want if it helps you sleep at night.
Q: When is your birthday?
A: Today.
Q: How many languages do you know?
A: English, Tiếng Việt, Español, and 日本語. Fluent in the first two, literate in Spanish, and rusty in Japanese.
Q: Can I hear more about your original characters?
A: I'm shy...but you can see an entire website I put together for them here. They're all based off of rocks and minerals.
